Who We Are TOP
We are a mother and daughter team who design all of our products in our Maud Dexter home studio.
Maude Dexter was our great grandmother, and she was the great granddaughter of N.G.B. Dexter, who founded Dexter Yarn Company in Pawtucket, RI in 1820. DYC was the largest manufacturer of knitting cotton, crochet cotton and threads in the U.S., and remained in our family until 1927. Between 1917-1920, DYC published the finest crochet pattern books available on the market with very sweet, romantic and charming patterns that are as beautiful and useful today as they were yesterday.
Our designs try to re-capture the romanticism of yesterday when home decorating was feminine and romantic.
Sandra has been an artist all of her life, as well as her daughter Amy. Amy has had many of her paintings on display in Seattle in various banks and buildings, as well as in Spokane, WA in regional exhibits; many of her paintings took 1st Place in several competitions.
Sandra and Amy's love of needlework stems from several generations throughout their Dexter family. Both sew each item by hand, with no machine stitching, just as the ladies of the Victorian and Edwardian era before them.
Sandra and Amy design and create new items almost on a daily basis, so be sure to keep shopping the Maude Dexter website regularly for their newest creations. Pillows, Decorative Glass Bottles, Beauties for the Vanity and Boudoir, hand painted Roses items, and Vintage Linens and Textiles can be found here as well.
Free U.S. shipping on all items.
